Baked Apples

For the Apples:

To Serve:

(Optional) 2 tbsp
Non-dairy ice cream, cream or custard, optional



Preheat your oven to 180°C (Gas Mark 4, 350°F) and lightly grease a baking tin large enough to hold all 4 apples snugly.


Remove the core from each of the apples and score a line through the skin of each, round the widest part of the middle.


In a small bowl, mix together all the other ingredients and pack the mixture into the core holes of each apple, piling them up as much as possible.


Transfer to the oven and bake for 30 minutes, basting occasionally with the juices.


When cooked, leave to cool slightly before serving with custard, cream or ice cream and a drizzle of maple syrup, if you like.
