Chocolate Hazelnut Christmas Tree

Servings: Serves 6


2 tbsp
dairy-free chocolate ‘smarties’
Icing Sugar, for dusting



Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the pastry and cut in half widthways with a sharp knife.


Place one piece of pastry on the lined baking sheet and cover with the chocolate spread as evenly as possible.


Lay the second sheet of pastry over the chocolate spread and smooth out to make a neat sandwich.


Cut two rectangle shapes off both the bottom corners to create the trunk and base of the tree. Cut a star for the top of the tree from the excess pastry.


To make the branches, cut slanted strips into the sides and twist them
into ropes.


Brush the whole tree with soya milk and place the star on the top. Transfer to the oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until crisp and golden brown.


Serve warm or cold, with the ‘smarties’ scattered over like baubles and a generous dusting of icing sugar ‘snow’.
