Much-loved bakery chain Hummingbird Bakery are adding a vegan red velvet cupcake to their choice of cakes, available in their London and Surrey bakeries and to order online. The products will be baked on-site and according to the company they will be made from the “best possible ingredients”. The vegan options will be available from 8th January 2018.

The rise in veganism and plant based lifestyles has seen an increase in bakeries and other food companies increasing their dairy-free and egg-free options on their menu in efforts to keep up with consumer trends. Other bakeries that have adapted their menus and added vegan versions of different foods include Warrens Bakery with their plant based pasties.

Hummingbird Bakery’s founder Tarek Malouf commented on the new cake launch saying: “Customers told us they wanted a vegan option of our cakes and we listened. We wanted to offer an amazing vegan cupcake that is every bit as delicious and authentically American tasting as the Red Velvet cupcake we introduced to the UK in 2004.”

He added: “The Hummingbird Bakery’s new Vegan Red Velvet Cupcake compromises nothing from the original recipe, we are really proud of this vegan version of our bestseller.”
