Poached Pears in Puff Pastry

Peel the pears and use a small knife to remove the core from the bottom. Then add the water, sugar, cinnamon and cloves to a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the pears and simmer for 25-30 minutes until the pears have softened slightly. Remove the pears from the syrup and allow to cool.


Pre-heat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6, then cut thin strips of the puff pastry and wrap them around the pear from top to bottom. Place them onto a lined baking tray and sprinkle with sugar, put into the oven for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is cooked and golden.
