Ingredients

Method

1

Peel the pears, leaving them whole and the stalk intact.

2

Place the remaining ingredients in a pan and gently place in the pears. Cover with a lid and bring to a gentle simmer. Poach for 30 minutes or until the pears are tender when pierced with a knife.

3

Remove the pears and set aside, once cooked, and bring the poaching liquid to a boil. Allow to bubble until reduced by half: you should have a glossy syrup-like sauce.

4

Serve the pears warm or cold, with a drizzle of the sauce poured over and some nondairy cream or ice cream on the side.

Greetings from Carolina! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to browse your website on my iphone during lunch break. I love the knowledge you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m shocked at how quick your blog loaded on my cell phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, wonderful site!
